Fire Safety

Please take note of the following!

At UZH, for fire safety reasons, only materials with sufficient certification are permitted at events, particularly in escape and rescue routes. In escape and rescue routes, only non-combustible materials may be used that are certified according to the fire safety standard of the Association of Cantonal Fire Insurance Companies (VKF) applicable in Switzerland (RF1). Certifications according to the EU standard SN EN 13501-1:2009, which has been adopted in Switzerland, may also be accepted. For temporary events, materials classified as “flame-retardant” may be permitted after a detailed risk analysis has been carried out. Certifications according to the German standard DIN 4102, such as B1 or B2, cannot be accepted, nor can certificates according to the French standard NF P 92-503, such as M1 and M2.
